How Will Economy Fare With New President?

Obama

Obama

With the recent election results in, Barack Obama has apparently won and will be president starting in January.  This leaves me wondering how this is going to change our economy.  It will be interesting to watch and see.  We need to have our national debt get smaller.  While I realize it will take many years to accomplish this, we should move toward that direction.  If we cut spending and increase taxes, it would seem the logical way to get out of debt.  We can’t spend more than we have.

Everyone knows debt is bad and everyone knows that we have lots of it as a country.  The United States is a place where people enjoy capitalism and a free economy.  With that freedom comes responsibility.  As a citizen, there is no way I could incur much debt without serious implications.  When I look at our country’s budget, it makes me scared for our future.  There will be serious implications for us.  We may already be starting to feel it.

My plea to Obama is to reign in the spending and help our country make progress towards getting out of debt.  The immediate effects of this may be tough, but we need to make sacrifices to get the long term benefits.

    Steve,
I have to agree with you. I’m afraid of what lies ahead. My children were asking me why little kids can’t vote. I think this is why. Young people are so easily swayed and don’t have enough experience to understand what is dangerous.

  2. I wonder too. This is one case where I hope the politician actually lied during the campaign. Because if he really does what he said he believes in, its not going to be a good thing.
